Bell Helicopter announced June 8 that the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had certified the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X. For Bell CEO Mitch Snyder, the FAA’s green light is “another significant milestone in our journey to market entry for the Bell 505.” He then added, “This aircraft incorporates the latest advancements in safety and aviation technology, and we are extremely proud of our return to the short light single class of helicopters.” Alongside the first deliveries of the aircraft in North America, Bell Helicopter will continue to work with other certification authorities worldwide. The FAA certification was delivered following trials totaling over 1,000 flight hours. In addition, the Bell Helicopter Training Academy is preparing for the 505’s entry into service by training the first pilots.
